TULSA, OK — Today, the Muscogee Nation Department of Health held the 22nd Annual Pink Party at River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa. With over 600 guests in attendance, this was the largest Pink Party in MCN history.

For 22 years, MCN Health has hosted this event during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to honor survivors and provide women’s health education. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among Native women, underscoring the importance of this annual event in raising awareness and promoting early detection.

This year’s event featured a Las Vegas theme, including a performance by Elvis impersonator Brent Giddens, and a breast cancer survivor panel discussion moderated by Lisa Riley, a survivor and local owner of Pinot’s Palette.

Attendees also heard remarks from Muscogee Nation Principal Chief David Hill, Second Chief Del Beaver, and Acting Secretary of Health Tim Hicks. Special vendors and health programs provided guests with additional health information. A new feature this year also offered established MCN Health patients the opportunity to schedule mammogram appointments onsite.

“The Pink Party keeps getting bigger and better each year, and we’re thrilled to see such an amazing turnout,” said Acting MCN Secretary of Health Tim Hicks. “We have some of the best and latest technology, with our 3D mammography and breast MRI capabilities. These large numbers allow us to emphasize our focus on early detection and consistent screening.”

The Pink Party is an employee-led, volunteer event, that includes contributions from Public Health Nurses and a host of other MCN Health divisions.

“This is one of the staple events on our calendar year,” said Principal Chief David Hill. “I just want to thank all the people that come together to make this happen. We’re communal people—it takes all of us—and for us to come together for this event and have a real impact on the communities we serve is extremely gratifying to see as a tribal leader.”
