The Behavioral Health Program was originally started in the early 1980’s with two staff members. The programs primary focus at that time was referrals for residential substance abuse treatment however there was some mental health treatment provided. In 1987 the Behavioral Health program was established which had four staff members providing both mental health and substance abuse services at three clinic sites.
In the last seven years the program has been awarded six federal grants which allowed growth of services and staff. The program will have seventy two staff members when all positions are filled. The program focus has changed from crisis driven services to early prevention and intervention services and we now provide services in the six Creek Nation Health Clinics, seventeen public schools and the Eufaula Boarding School.
Behavioral Health provides mental health and substance abuse services for children, adolescents, adults, and elders, services include:
Parent Child Interaction therapy (PCIT)
In-Service Training/Community Education
Substance Abuse Screening and Treatment
Psychological Evaluation and Treatment
Screening Brief Intervention and Treatment (SBIRT) in Health Clinics
Suicide/ Crisis Intervention
All services are provided by licensed or licensed eligible mental health and substance abuse professionals.
